Violation of Academy Principles

Violation of Academy Principles: Remedies

Upon receiving information indicating that a Fellow (FAAM) or Diplomat (DAAM) or Certified Micropigmentation Instructor (CMI) or any other member of the Academy, including vendors, may be in violation, past or present, of any principle of the Academy, the Executive Director or his/her designee, will follow the Bylaws of the Academy with regard to investigation and referral to the Board of Directors. If disciplinary action is deemed warranted by the board and imposed, it may take one or more of the following forms:

(1 ) Admonition—A written notification, warning, or serious rebuke.

(2) Censure—A written judgment, condemning the Fellow's action as wrong. This is a firm reprimand.

(3) Probation—A punitive action for a stated period of time, during which the Fellow

(a) loses the rights to hold office and to participate as a leader in Academy programs

(b) retains other privileges and obligations of Fellowship

(c) will be reconsidered by the Executive Board periodically, and at the end of the stated term.

(4) Suspension—A severe punitive action for a stated or indefinite time, during which the Fellow

(a) loses the rights to attend and vote at Academy meetings, to hold office, and to participate as a leader, speaker, or panelist in Academy programs

(b) is subject to the removal of the Fellow's name from the IPC Directory and from the mailing list of the Academy and from the website

(c) surrenders his or her Fellowship certificate to the Academy, and no longer explicitly or implicitly claims to be a Fellow of the American Academy of Micropigmentation

(d) pays the visitor's registration fee when attending Academy programs by permission only

(e) is not subject to the payment of annual dues and loses all privileges offered by the Academy

If suspension is lifted, the Fellow is returned to probation or to the status of Active Member with full privileges and obligations of Fellowship.

(5) Expulsion—The certificate of Fellowship and all other indicia of Fellowship previously issued by the Academy, including Certified Instructor if applicable, must be forthwith returned to the Academy. The technician thereafter shall not explicitly or implicitly claim to be a Fellow or Diplomat or an otherwise active member of the Academy and may not participate in any Academy programs.

Purposeful deception in order to gain credentials is prima facie cause for expulsion and revocation of all credentials so gained under false pretenses.
