Disciplinary action by the Academy is intended to be fair to all members who are the subject of complaints or ethics violations or alleged false pretenses or information on their application. Achievement of satisfactory test scores on any Board Certification exam is not a defense to any disciplinary actions.
Members convicted of a felony are automatically expulsed from the Academy. Members convicted of any misdemeanors will be suspended immediately pending further review. Any member of the AAM who have complaints by clients or students must verify their identity by providing the Academy with a copy of their birth certificate and valid driver's license, a copy of their insurance coverage, and a copy of their current business license. This information is needed to assist the AAM Board in their review of the complaints or alleged violations.
The Academy will do the following in response to ethics violations and/or complaints against a member: 1) Evaluate the complaint or complaints, and 2) Make a determination as to the merit of the complaints, and 3) Notify the member in writing of the complaints and allow 30 days for a response, and 4) if necessary, arrange for member to appeal their case before the Board at the Annual Meeting or at headquarters in Goldsboro, North Carolina.
The Academy reserves the right to revise this Fair Hearing Plan based on legal requirements or changes by the Board.
